Qu’est-ce que l’Ar-Po-Lib ?
Ar-Po-Lib (Artistes pour la Liberté) est la page LESLAN dédiée aux artistes interviewant d’autres artistes et activistes, militants, et citoyens en général qui souhaitent partager leurs points de vue sur l’héritage de l’esclavage au Niger.
Pourquoi des artistes ?
L’art a le pouvoir de transmettre des idées et des émotions. L’art est expression. Elle peut diffuser un message de manière différente par rapport aux luttes politiques et débat académique. L’art peut être déployée comme un véhicule pour le changement. L’art peut toucher un public varié et diversifié et peut faire entendre les voix marginalisées, en particulier celles réduites au silence ou sous-représentées par les hiérarchies sociales.
Les artistes, les militants et les citoyens ici parlent d’eux-mêmes, ils le font volontairement avec leur plein consentement et comprenant qu’il s’agit d’un espace partagé publiquement. What is Ar-Po-Lib?
Ar-Po-Lib (« Artists for Freedom » in French) is the LESLAN page dedicated to artists interviewing other artists and activists and citizens generally who wish to share their views about the legacies of slavery in Niger.
Why artists?
Art has the power to convey ideas and emotions. Art is expression. It can spread a message in ways different from political struggles and academic debate. Art can be deployed as a vehicle for change. Art can reach a varied and diverse audience and can be an outlet for silenced and marginalised voices, especially those that may have been silenced by social hierarchies and processes of social exclusion.
The artists, activists and citizens here speak for themselves, they do so voluntarily having given their full consent and agreement in the understanding that this is a publicly shared space. Please watch the following video clips and listen to the audio clips. The interviewees express their views, which often differ from those of LESLAN or Timidria, but express their experience and perceptions. Thank you for watching and listening.
INTERVIEW AVEC AïCHA MOHAMED KOLAN KOLAN
Aïcha Kolan Kolan est chez LESLAN depuis le début. Elle a été l’un des principaux chercheurs dans la première phase du projet LESLAN et dans la deuxième phase, elle est la coordinatrice du Volet « Genre et Esclavage ». Etudiante en Master à l’Université Abdou Moumouni de Niamey, elle poursuit un Master en Linguistique Tamacheq et est membre de Timidria et militante.
Aïcha Kolan Kolan has been with LESLAN since the beginning. She was one of the core researchers in the first phase of the LESLAN Project and in the second phase she is the Coordinator of the project component « Genre et Esclavage ». A Masters student at the University Abdou Moumouni of Niamey, she is pursuing a Masters degree in Tamacheq Linguistics and is a member of Timidria and an activist.
ZINDER, NIGER
Ar-Po-Lib à Zinder, Niger
Yacouba Ibrahim « Sage Soldat », qui coordonne Ar-Po-Lib por LESLAN a été interviewé par Radio Anfani à Zinder. Veuillez regarder l’extrait d’entrevue ci-dessus. L’interview a été diffusée en direct le lundi 27 septembre 2021 pour faire connaître le concert « Music for Freedom » qui se tiendra le lendemain soir à Zinder.
Yacouba rapporte que « nous avions eu l’invitation de l’un des animateurs le plus écouté de la Région de Zinder, WATIFLOW. C’était une belle occasion que nous avons saisie, d’être sur les antennes de la Radio ANFANI pour annoncer notre présence dans la ville de milles collines (Zinder) et aussi informer la population, les jeunes, le public que nous sommes là pour un concert en lien avec la Journée Nationale de Mobilisation Contre la Traite des Personnes et de l’Esclavage). Nous avons aussi parlé du projet LESLAN et de l’Association TIMIDRIA dans sa lutte contre l’esclavage au Niger ».

The interview was broadcast live on Monday 27 September 2021 to publicize the “Music for Freedom” concert being held the following evening in Zinder.
Yacouba reports, “we had been invited to appear on the show by one of the most popular radio hosts in the Zinder Region: WATIFLOW. It was a great opportunity that we seized, to broadcast across the waves of Radio ANFANI to announce our presence in the city of a thousand hills (Zinder), to inform the population, young people and the public the reason for our presence, which was our concert in connection with the National Day of Mobilization against Trafficking in Persons and Slavery. We also talked about the LESLAN project and the TIMIDRIA Association in its fight against slavery in Niger”.
